JOHANNESBURG - The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is set to conclude its 18th national elective congress on Thursday.
Delegates will vote for new leadership while declarations on various issues affecting workers will be discussed and announced later.
NUM president, Daniel Balepile, who's running for a second term in Thursday's elections, said they’re hoping for a smooth election process.
"The expectation is that we will be presenting the financial report and then voting will take place as well in the afternoon today. Then we're expecting to get the results today, later in the afternoon after counting. We are hoping that we'll push the programme, it matters not what, so that we complete our programme."
