JOHANNESBURG - SMURFS film characters Smurfette and No Name have arrived in the country and are currently making appearances at various venues ahead of the film’s release next month.
Smurfette is the first female Smurf, while new character No Name is a kind, helpful and nameless Smurf with an identity crisis.
Fans will have the opportunity to interact with the duo during the meet-and-greet events in malls, entertainment centres, and casinos.
The Smurfing the Nation tour started in Cape Town on June 26 and will run there till July 4, with visits to Somerset Mall, Tygervalley Mall and Canal Walk before heading to KwaZulu-Natal from Saturday, July 5, to July 7 and ending in Gauteng from July 9 and July 26.
The appearances are free for all to attend and will give fans a chance to see the film trailer and enjoy the soundtrack, which also features local, Grammy award-winning star Tyla.
The film has a stellar voice cast that includes Rihanna, James Corden, Sandra Oh, Jimmy Kimmel, Amy Sedaris, and Daniel Levy. It will be released at movie theatres nationally on Friday, July 11, 2025.
