JOHANNESBURG - The South African Breweries (SAB) said it was prioritising the safety of all its staff and community members near the Baragwanath branch in Soweto after a part of it was engulfed by fire.

Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) fought the blaze on Thursday and managed to contain it at the outdoor storage space of the branch.

No injuries were reported, and the main building and its materials were unaffected.

SAB vice president of corporate affairs, Zoleka Lisa, said that emergency services would continue doing clean-up operations.

"We are cooperating fully to support their efforts and to ensure that all necessary protocols are observed."
