CAPE TOWN - Western Cape police are hunting for the suspects behind a mass shooting in Gugulethu, Cape Town.
Seven men were gunned down in the Kanana Informal Settlement on Saturday.
The deadly shooting comes just two days after national police commissioner Fannie Masemola launched Operation Shanela 2 in Belhar.
At the launch on Thursday, Masemola explained that the initiative is aimed at tackling serious crimes such as gun violence in high-risk communities like on the Cape Flats.
"We’ve also picked up that more than a hundred of deceased people that had firearms that these firearms are still in the hands of relatives, so we have a list of those, so we are going to go to those specific homes looking for those specific guns because they are indeed committing crime if they have not been handed over."
Police are urging anyone with information on the Kanana mass shooting to come forward.
