JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) said that it was becoming increasingly evident that the Democratic Alliance (DA) was prioritising its own interests, following its withdrawal from the National Dialogue.

The blue party announced over the weekend that it would boycott the dialogue in response to the dismissal of Andrew Whitfield as the deputy minister of trade, industry, and competition.

Whitfield was removed from his post after undertaking an unauthorised international trip.

This has once again divided the Government of National Unity (GNU), with the DA issuing a plethora of threats, including a motion of no confidence in the president.

ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri said the DA must decide where it stands.

"This response speaks volumes about the DA’s character. They are willing to undermine national interests in pursuit of their narrow partisan agenda."
