702 Youth Takeover: ‘I don’t wait for opportunities, I create them’ - Khanya Ramahali, aspiring radio host

Gerhard Maritz and Khanya Ramahali were in studio with 702's Relebogile Mabotja

Every week in June which is Youth Month, Relebogile Mabotja hosts a young person with radio aspirations on 702 Afternoons.

Khanya Ramahali is only 14 years old and attending high school at St Stithians College, while also working as a TV presenter.

She wanted to find out about getting into radio and asked around until she found this opportunity.

“I am one of those people who do not wait for opportunities, instead I create them.”
- Khanya Ramahali, aspiring radio host
“I can’t explain how blessed I am just to be here today.”
- Gerhard Maritz, aspiring radio host

Gerhard says the biggest lessons he learned from his takeover experience are how quickly everything happens, and how many people are involved in creating a show.

The 702 team captured Gerhard and Khanya’s day in the life of a radio host for our social media accounts.
