Every week in June which is Youth Month, Relebogile Mabotja hosts a young person with radio aspirations on 702 Afternoons.
Khanya Ramahali is only 14 years old and attending high school at St Stithians College, while also working as a TV presenter.
She wanted to find out about getting into radio and asked around until she found this opportunity.
“I am one of those people who do not wait for opportunities, instead I create them.”
- Khanya Ramahali, aspiring radio host
For Khanya, she says the most important things she has learnt at 702 are the importance of being herself and learning how to multitask.
Gerhard Maritz is a 20-year-old student and sports presenter at TuksFM.
He has only been working in student radio for a month and was thrilled to find an opportunity to gain some experience hosting a show.
“I can’t explain how blessed I am just to be here today.”
- Gerhard Maritz, aspiring radio host
Gerhard says the biggest lessons he learned from his takeover experience are how quickly everything happens, and how many people are involved in creating a show.
The 702 team captured Gerhard and Khanya’s day in the life of a radio host for our social media accounts.
