JOHANNESBURG - Acting Johannesburg Mayor Kenny Kunene is scheduled to inspect and raid run-down buildings in the inner city.
The operation is also set to target illegal water and electricity connections in the area.
Together with Public Safety MMC Mgcini Tshwaku, Kunene is set to visit various buildings to ensure compliance with municipal by-laws.
The last time Kunene served as acting mayor of Johannesburg, he landed in hot water for demolishing a hijacked building in Windsor East without first obtaining a court order.
He was also captured on video manhandling a group of men accused of selling counterfeit goods at one of the properties.
On Tuesday, he is set to inspect law enforcement agencies to ensure no criminal activity is taking place.
It remains unclear which specific buildings are being targeted.
