Ekurhuleni man dies after fire at Makause informal settlement

JOHANNESBURG - One person has died after a fire broke out at the Makause informal settlement in the City of Ekurhuleni.
Emergency services said the blaze destroyed several structures on Wednesday morning.
Spokesperson William Tladi said the man's body was found under the rubble.
“A total of eight shacks burnt down, and in that inferno, a partially burnt body of an adult male was discovered in one of the shacks. Gauteng provincial government ambulance services' paramedics were on scene, and the patient was declared deceased."
Tladi said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
