Mdudzi Mnisi was arrested in June after an eyewitness reported having seen him with Fose a day before her mutilated body was found.
Investigating officer Moses Semosa gave the court his account of the initial investigation.
"I visited the family. Your worship, upon my arrival there, I found the family and interviewed them. After questioning them, there is information that I received that the applicant before court was seen together with the deceased in this matter."
Mnisi had told the court that he had never seen the girl and further claimed that he did not know who she was, which his girlfriend also corroborated.
Semosa further explained what the eyewitness told him.
"The witness mentioned that on the day of the 31st of May, which was on Saturday, she saw the applicant before court getting inside the house of number 251 Solplaki Street in the afternoon after 6h00s."
Mnisi has been remanded in custody pending the continuation of the bail hearing.
