Beninese music icon Angélique Kidjo to receive star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced Kidjo as one of the 2026 honourees alongside celebrated icons such as Shaquille O'Neal, Timothée Chalamet, Miley Cyrus and Indian actress Deepika Padukone.

JOHANNESBURG - Beninese music icon and five-time Grammy winner Angélique Kidjo is making history again, becoming the first African musician ever selected for a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced Kidjo as one of the 2026 honourees alongside celebrated icons such as Shaquille O'Neal, Timothée Chalamet, Miley Cyrus and Indian actress Deepika Padukone.

Kidjo’s musical career spans four decades, with 16 albums released.

She has worked with UNICEF and the Batonga Foundation as an advocate for African women and girls and has been a captivating figure on the international scene for 40 years.
