Initiation school argument ends in death at a Trompsburg tavern

JOHANNESBURG - An argument over initiation schools has ended with a man being stabbed to death and another under arrest in Trompsburg in the Free State.
Police say the two men clashed late on Friday evening at a local tavern on Booysen Street.
The 28-year-old suspect allegedly pulled a knife during the argument and stabbed the 31-year-old victim, who died on the scene.
The suspect handed himself over to police shortly after the incident and is expected to appear in the Trompsburg magistrate’s court soon, facing a murder charge.
Free State police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli said that further investigations are underway
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased and the suspect allegedly got into an argument about initiation schools. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim, who died on the scene. Following the incident, the suspect then handed himself over and was arrested for murder. Investigations are continuing."
