JOHANNESBURG - Police Minister Senzo Mchunu is expected to give a full account to President Cyril Ramaphosa after being accused of meddling in police investigations.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile revealed on Thursday that officials implicated in alleged links to controversial businessman Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala were meeting the president.
This follows KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s explosive allegations suggesting Mchunu may have links to the tenderpreneur.
Mashatile said that before the President addresses the nation on Sunday evening, those implicated will give their version of events.
“He [the President] is currently meeting with all who are affected, and at the right time, he’ll address the nation as he said. So, let’s allow him to finalise those proposals. We know everyone in the country wants to know the way forward, but I think it’s the prerogative of the president to have the first bite on that.”
