JOHANNESBURG - Airports Company South Africa has temporarily suspended its group executive for enterprise security and compliance, Mzwandile Petros, pending the outcome of investigations into allegations of operational irregularities.
On Friday, the company released a statement citing that their decision to place Petros on precautionary suspension is to safeguard the flow of investigations.
ACSA says Petros' duties will be fulfilled by Mary-Ann Joubert in the interim.
She will handle the day-to-day functions of the security threat risk and vulnerability assessments at all the airports under the company.
The company says the operations in the nine airports, including the three main international gateways managed by the company, will not be affected by the suspension.
Petro, who has been working in the company for seven years now, is on precautionary suspension to allow for a fair and unbiased investigation to be conducted.
ACSA says they will provide updates on the matter once it has been concluded by the independent investigation.
