Three accused of illegal possession of Rhino horns granted bail

CAPE TOWN - Three men accused of the illegal possession of Rhino horns have been granted bail the Western Cape.
The suspects appeared in the Swellendam magistrates court on Friday following their arrest at the beginning of the month.
Hawks officials found the pair in possession of rhino horns with an estimated value of R260,000.
Hawks' spokesperson Siyabulela Vukubi said “Shaun Barties who is accused number one was released on R10 000 bail whereas Cheslyn Whitebooi and Christopher Farret were released on R5000 bail each. This follows their arrests on the 2nd of July 2025 for possession and selling of rhinoceros horns without permit.”
