JOHANNESBURG - The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Polokwane doesn’t believe lack of experience and resources will be a factor in the current by-elections.
The party is contesting the municipality’s ward 13, its first election since it resolved to no longer contest under the African National Congress (ANC) banner.
The ward became vacant after the council expelled Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) councillor, Mafiwa Leballo, for failing to attend legislative meetings.

ANC bakkies with retrofitted speakers blasted its campaign message throughout ward 13, while the EFF’s bakkies have also been doing the same.
EFF president, Julius Malema, was also there to vote in his home ward.
The posters of EFF and ANC candidates were also plastered on almost every street pole in Seshego.
This was in contrast to the SACP’s low-key campaign.
SACP candidate, Obed Thabana, said that they had focused on a door-to-door campaign and engaging the voters directly.
"Our people are no longer interested in how much you spend on the campaign but on what you can deliver and with us, we are not promising anything we cannot deliver, except to say we are going to be reliable messengers. We are here to serve our people and to carry their mandate."
Voters will cast their ballot for Polokwane’s ward 13 on Wednesday.
