CAPE TOWN - Spring may have sprung earlier than expected in the Namaqua National Park, as flowers begin to bloom.
Due to good rainfall since March, SANParks officials said that conditions had been ideal for early germination.
And with a warmer autumn and an earlier winter, flora experts said this mimicked Spring-like conditions, resulting in an earlier than usual blooming.
SANParks spokesperson, JP Louw, said if weather conditions continue, visitors can expect a dramatic transformation.
"Moreover, if the current pattern of cold weather and consistent follow-up soft rain showers continue and the warm, dry east winds remain absent, visitors can look forward to a prolonged and spectacular flower season that is indigenous to Namaqua National Park."
