JOHANNESBURG - Presiding bishop at the Grace Bible Church, Mosa Sono, has called on the Christian community to pray for the nation amid allegations of corruption in the police service.

Sono said that every sector must play a part in actively pursuing a better South Africa for all.

The call comes after top cop in KwaZulu-Natal, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, in a bombshell expose, accused Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and police top brass of having links to criminal networks.

The bishop lamented corruption in the country and said that those in power must serve citizens.

He leads congregants in prayer every day from midnight to 7am and has lauded South Africans for taking a stand.

"I think it's good that, as citizens, we are agitating for change, we are demanding accountability. Some of these leaders think that they are indispensable. They are showing South Africa the middle finger, they treat us with impunity. Those in power are there to be servants of the people. They don't have to be Christian. The issues of justice and fairness, they are even apolitical for that matter."
