CAPE TOWN - The state says more charges are imminent in the kidnapping and assault case linked to a senior police official in Durban.

This is due to other complainants having come forward following the arrest of the officer.

The Road Traffic Inspectorate Officer, Vincent Botha, appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He is accused of victimising women during stops he conducts.

State prosecutor Advocate Calvin Govender said, “I just want to place one aspect on record as well, as the advocate stated that the matter has been reported on social media. There are other complaints who have approached the investigating officer, and their statements need to be taken as well, where the same modus operandi has been used.”
