EMPANGENI - Police Minister Senzo Mchunu said that he was ready to cooperate with a commission of inquiry probing allegations against him.
Mchunu was recently implicated in a string of allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) police boss Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who alleged there was political interference in law enforcement agencies, pointing to Mchunu and crime detection boss, Shadrack Sibiya.
As a result, President Cyril Ramaphosa established an inquiry to probe the allegations, with the minister put on special leave.
While out and about performing his Nelson Mandela Day activities in Ngwelezana on Friday, Mchunu briefly addressed the elephant in the room.
Mchunu said all the action taken by Ramaphosa thus far with regards to corruption allegations was fair, adding that this was why he welcomed the establishment of the commission of inquiry and was ready to state his case before it.
"Well, those were made in a particular day, and I will talk about that, but all I can say is that foremost, I welcome with both hands the decision of the President on how best this matter or these allegations can be processed."
