DURBAN - Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has pledged his full support for a commission of inquiry looking into the allegations of misconduct that he faces.

Mchunu is accused of using his position as minister to interfere with police investigations.

These claims were made by KZN police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi recently.

With President Cyril Ramaphosa having appointed a commission to probe this security threat to the country's national security, Mchunu, who has since been placed on a leave of absence, says he is ready to be called to take the stand at the commission.

“I am committing myself that when called to the commission, I will go there. Even if it’s at 4 o’clock in the morning, in fact, we will be there very early—if need be, a day before—we will sleep there.” said Mchunu.
