South Africa's Junior Springboks are world champions!

South Africa ended a 13-year wait for a second World Rugby U20 Championship title after beating New Zealand 23-15 in the final of the 2025 edition in the Italian city of Rovigo on Saturday.

It was the first meeting of the two nations in a final since the Junior Springboks' class of 2012.

De Koning says the win is one for the history books...

"Having champions in all departments in rugby... we're truly champions of the world at the moment."
- Jan De Koning, Rugby 365 - Editor

De Koning believes the winning ingredient is that rugby teams from regional to national are sharing "the general rugby IP through South African rugby" ensuring all coaches are on the same page.

"Kevin Foote made it clear over the weekend that he tapped into Rassie's brain for some advice and he had Johan Ackermann who is also involved there...You can clearly see that it's not every team for itself, it's not different parts working in silos, it's working as one unit at SA Rugby."
- Jan De Koning, Rugby 365 - Editor
"They try and share IP. You no longer have a coach thinking he must do it all... you have coaches that assist each other."
- Jan De Koning, Rugby 365 - Editor
