JOHANNESBURG - Parliament's portfolio committees on police and justice and constitutional development have recommended that an ad hoc committee be established to probe allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
During a meeting between the committees on Tuesday morning, a decision was taken to adopt a draft report.

Earlier in July, Mkhwanazi presented several damning allegations of corruption and collusion against police top brass and the judicial cluster in Gauteng.
Parliament's portfolio committees on police and justice and constitutional development want to establish an ad hoc committee to be tasked with adequately dealing with the allegations made by Mkhwanazi.
The committees resolved to adopt a report on the establishment of an ad hoc committee to probe the allegations of police and judicial corruption and collusion made by Mkhwanazi.
Several members of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party reserved their position on the adoption of the report.
“Because we actually don’t know what the report is going to look like. This is like adopting in good faith kind of a situation. So, I just want to say in terms of the MK Party, we want to reserve our position in terms of the adoption,” said Member of Parliament (MP) Mzwanele Manyi.
Despite concerns raised over time constraints in which the report had to be drafted, the committees are expected to present the report to Parliament in due course.
