JOHANNESBURG - The Patriotic Alliance (PA) wants one of its councillors in the Johannesburg city council to replace the suspended Kenny Kunene as the MMC for transport.
Kunene was suspended earlier this week after being found at the home of Katiso "KT" Molefe, who was recently arrested for allegedly orchestrating the murder of Oupa Sefoka, known as DJ Sumbody.
Kunene's 30-day suspension is pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Molefe is among those identified by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi in connection with the alleged infiltration of law enforcement agencies.
Eyewitness News has been reliably informed that Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero is likely to make an announcement this weekend regarding the appointment of Kunene's replacement as the MMC for transport.
Several smaller parties in the council are also interested in the position, but the Patriotic Alliance believes it is only fair that the role be filled by one of its own councillors.
PA spokesperson Steve Motale said if Kunene was cleared, the party would then decide whether he needs to return to council.
"He might return, or not return. He might return in a different role. Remember, we are also coalition partners in the provincial government, so he might decide to take him anywhere."
Insiders have named Dwaine Ponsoby, the ward councillor in Eldorado Park, as a potential replacement for Kunene.
