PRETORIA – City of Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya said the city is on track to hit its investment and growth targets, as the Tshwane Investment Summit kicked off on Wednesday.
Moya was speaking at the inaugural investment summit in Menlyn, where she was joined by city officials, Finance and Economic Development MEC Lebogang Maile and investors.
The capital’s mayor hopes to pull an ambitious R5 billion worth of investment by the end of the year.
The plans include reviving underperforming assets including the Rooiwal power plant, Wonderboom Airport and the troubled fresh produce market.
She said investment into the city will deal with revenue targets and service delivery plans.
“These reforms are about building predictability, ensure policy certainty and giving investors assurance that Tshwane is open for business.”
Moya said incentives are on the table to sweeten the deal for investors.
“Taken together, these enablers show that Tshwane is serious about creating the right environment for investment. The assets are ready, the systems are improving, and the incentives are in place. What is needed now is partnership.”
