CAPE TOWN - The father of a seven-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and killed in Khayelitsha, in Cape Town, said he feels some relief since police arrested two people accused of her daughter's murder.

Odwa Jack and Nokuthula Matyeseni, who are linked to the child's murder, made their first court appearance on Friday.

They were arrested after Lolitha's body was discovered at a dumping site in Kuyasa on Wednesday.

The prosecution told the court that bloodstains, believed to be that of the child, were found inside the accused's home and car.

Lolitha Kowa's father, Zukisani Skade, said it was comforting to know that the perpetrators had been found.

"In other cases, some parents lose their kids and never find their bodies or their killers. We're relieved that the child's body and her killers were found at least."

He said the whole ordeal has been traumatic for them as a family.
