Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has announced sweeping changes to his cabinet, marking a significant political shift as the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) officially join the ANC-led coalition government.

Addressing the media in Johannesburg earlier today, Lesufi confirmed that the EFF has moved from the provincial legislature’s opposition benches to the executive branch.

This sees Nkululeko Dunga, the EFF Gauteng leader, appointed as the MEC for Finance.

Dunga replaces the ANC’s Lebogang Maile, who has been reassigned to lead the Education portfolio.

Lesufi emphasised that the inclusion of the EFF and the subsequent reshuffle are intended to bolster the administration’s performance.

The Premier stated that these changes will bring much-needed stability to his cabinet.
