JOHANNESBURG - The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds and waves along parts of the eastern coast.

The conditions are expected to make sea navigation difficult, and coastal communities are urged to exercise caution.

Very cold weather is also expected on Sunday across coastal areas, as well as inland regions of Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga.

Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela said isolated showers are likely in some parts.

"These are expected along the coastlines of KwaZulu-Natal into the extreme eastern half of the Eastern Cape. For the extreme western parts of the Northern Cape, we can expect some damaging interior winds, which might result in dusty conditions and reduced visibility, especially along the extreme west coast."
