JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Transport has scored its first clean audit outcome from the auditor-general in 31 years.
Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy and Deputy Minister Mkhuleko Hlengwa have hailed this as a significant step towards a fully accountable administration.
Spokesperson Collen Msibi said the clean audit was based on the auditor-general's favourable opinion across three key areas, including the timely submission of annual financial statements, the absence of any significant deficiencies in internal controls, and no findings on the completeness of performance information.
"Transport Minister Barbara Creecy and Deputy Minister Mkhuleko Hlengwa have welcomed the department’s clean audit outcome by the auditor-general as a step in the right direction towards a fully accountable and clean administration. This is the first time in 31 years that the department has achieved a clean audit outcome."
