Micro apartments see 'buzz' and 'demand' among youngsters in Joburg, Cape Town

Micro apartments are compact, self-contained living spaces, typically ranging from 15 to 35 square meters, designed for efficiency and affordability.

They are often found in urban areas with high property costs and are a favourable option with young professionals and students.

These apartments capitalise on clever design and multifunctional furniture to maximise space and create a comfortable living environment, which is why they're becoming popular in South Africa, particularly in CBDs in Cape Town and Johannesburg. 

"They're elegantly and conveniently micro-furnished and good for successful living," says Geffen.

"It's something new in South Africa in parts of Johannesburg and Cape Town, and it's basically for students and young people who are in business and close to business nodes and don't require heavy means of transport to get there. Everything is nearby, everything is convenient. They're micro and they're clever."
