JOHANNESBURG - The man accused of calling a hit on two popular DJs, Katiso "KT" Molefe, is expected back in the Alexandra Magistrate's Court on Thursday to continue with his bail application.

Molefe started his bid for bail in the court last week after he was arrested in July in connection with the 2022 murder of Oupa Sefoka, who was popularly known as DJ Sumbody.

A week later, Molefe was charged with the murder of DJ Vintos, a Soweto DJ whose real name was Hector Buthelezi.

Molefe’s lawyers told the Alexandra Magistrate's Court that it was exceptional that he must apply for bail in a lower court when he was already deemed eligible for bail by the high court.

When Molefe was arrested in July for being the alleged mastermind behind the murder of DJ Sumbody, he was already out on bail and on trial for allegedly orchestrating the murder of Vereeniging engineer, Armand Sward.

But in an affidavit, the investigating officer told the court that Molefe was a dangerous criminal with no regard for human life.

Police also believe that if Molefe is granted bail, there is a likelihood that he will destroy evidence, as one of the AK-47 rifles used in the shooting of DJ Sumbody remains missing.

Both the State and Molefe’s lawyers will make their closing arguments on Thursday afternoon.
