JOHANNESBURG - The African Congress for Transformation (ACT) is calling for an investigation into an accident involving a government-owned vehicle which had been allegedly carrying African National Congress (ANC) regional leaders in Mangaung, Free State.
According to the party, the incident occurred near Verkeerdevlei on the N1 on Friday.
It is reported that the Regional Secretary of the ANC, Sabelo Pitso, the Regional Chief Whip Vuyile Nikelo and two bodyguards were in a convoy when the car lost control and overturned.
The two ANC leaders, including the bodyguards, did not sustain any serious injuries.
ACT national spokesperson Mo'hau Khumalo said the party has demanded the suspension of both ANC regional leaders and an investigation into what it says is the misuse of government fleet.
"The misuse of government fleet and public resources is theft from the people of the Free State; taxpayers' funded vehicles are for service delivery, not political errands or private trips."
