Freak accident claims life of grade R learner in Gauteng's Carletonville

JOHANNESBURG – A tragic freak accident has claimed the life of a grade R learner in Carletonville in  Gauteng.

It is understood that the six-year-old girl sustained serious injuries while boarding a scholar transport bus on Friday morning. 

The Letsatsing Primary Mine School learner was reportedly rushed to hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

Provincial education spokesperson Steve Mabona said psycho-social services will be made available to the bereaved family, learners, and teachers.

“According to information at our disposal, the said learner allegedly sustained serious injuries from a scholar transport bus while she was boarding the bus on Friday morning to go to school.”
