JOHANNESBURG - Mayibuye national convenor, Floyd Shivambu, said it was all or nothing at the 2026 local government elections, as he wrapped up the consultation process in KwaZulu-Natal.
Shivambu met with Mayibuye volunteers at the Greyville racecourse in Durban on Sunday, where he reiterated plans to turn the consultative process into a party.
But he said he wanted an in-house labour union, civil and civic society organisations and NGOs to be a part of the Mayibuye movement.
Shivambu’s attempt to make inroads in KZN come after he was expelled from former President Jacob Zuma’s MK Party, which made a massive sweep of voters at last year’s general elections.
He said he had big ambitions for the upcoming polls.
"And contest elections, not just for the sake of contesting elections but contest elections with the sake of winning all of them."
