JOHANNESBURG - The Palm Ridge Magistrates Court has heard how the men accused of killing former Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) member of Parliament (MP), Khethamabala Sithole, argued over who should take the shot.

Khethamabala was killed in a hail of bullets on 31 May 2025 while overseeing a branch meeting at the Buyafuthi hostel in Katlehong.

Two other IFP members were also shot in the head and chest but survived.

Three men accused of the shooting are currently applying for bail in court.

The State is opposing the release on bail for the accused men, with the investigating officer having taken the stand to make the case.

The officer said the State has a witness who was with the accused men on the day of the shooting.

He added that the first accused, Khethokuhle Sithole, accused number two, Ntando Ximba, argued over who should take the shot.

The officer testified that it was eventually another person by the name of Zamani Ximba who fired the 11 bullets that killed IFP MP Sithole.

Police are still trying to find Zamani, who they believe is the mastermind behind the assassination.
