JOHANNESBURG - E-hailing drivers marching in central Johannesburg are calling for their demands to be met within seven days.

On Tuesday, some e-hailing operators marched to hand over their memorandum of demands to the MEC of Transport and provincial legislators.

They said their industry needs to be regulated to avoid the alleged exploitation they currently face under app companies.

The secretary-general of the e-hailing partners council, Melithemba Mguni, said they want the transport department to stop prioritising other modes of public transport over others.

“Take credible steps to ensure the swift implementation of the National Land Transport Act, in the best interest of us, the drivers.”
