JOHANNESBURG - Rise Mzansi national chairperson, Vuyiswa Ramokgopa, said that the government of provincial unity in Gauteng appeared to be more consultative and cohesive than the national government coalition.
The Government of National Unity (GNU) has faced divisions, with some arguing the African National Congress (ANC) rarely consults coalition partners.
A recent study by the Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection found that, despite being a minority government, the Gauteng coalition has demonstrated greater maturity than most coalitions in the country.
Speaking at a media briefing on Monday, Ramokgopa said the Gauteng coalition had a culture of coordination.
"We have been able to cultivate quite a consultative process, even as it pertains to the premier's own programme of action, the restructuring of senior management and budget issues - we were consulted on that."
