Man discovers a knife in his chest... 8 years after stabbing

Doctors in Tanzania were stunned to discover that a man complaining of pus leaking from his nipple had been unknowingly walking around with a knife in his chest... for eight years!

According to reports, the 44-year-old man sought medical help after noticing the unusual discharge, despite having no pain or other symptoms. 

An x-ray quickly revealed the shocking truth - a knife blade embedded beneath his right shoulder, surrounded by infected tissue.

The man recalled being involved in a violent altercation nearly a decade earlier, during which he suffered multiple stab wounds. 

But due to limited medical resources at the time, he only received basic first aid, and no x-rays were taken.

Somehow, the knife (which had entered through his shoulder blade) remained inside his body unnoticed, as his immune system quietly walled it off.

Surgeons successfully removed the blade, and the man was discharged after 10 days in recovery. 

Doctors warned, however, that the outcome could have been far more dangerous. 

"Quite a story, don't you think?! To not realise that you had a whole knife blade sitting in your chest for eight years!"
