JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Department of Education has set 9 September 2025 as the final deadline for parents and guardians to submit all the required documents to complete the online admissions application.
This applies to parents whose children will be advancing to grade 1 and 8 next year, and have applied to schools through the online system.
Applications close in the next nine days.
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane gave an update on the status of the online application process during a briefing on Friday.
He said failure to complete the application process means parents may not ensure placement for their kids.

During the briefing, Chiloane stressed the importance of submitting valid, certified documents, particularly around the proof of address, because it determines a child’s placement.
Chiloane has warned parents against submitting fraudulent proof of residence.
He said that in the past, parents had gone out to seek addresses close to the desired school, which was not their residential address.
“I do understand that sometimes parents might have a temptation to prefer certain schools and go to certain areas and seek an address, whether it is from a family friend or cousin, doesn't matter.”
He warned parents that schools have been given the right to verify whether the child actually lives in a particular feeder zone.
