DA urges Tau to urgently appoint new National Lotteries Commission chairperson

CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) has urged Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition Parks Tau to urgently appoint a new chairperson for the National Lotteries Commission (NLC), following the resignation of Barney Pityana.
The party has warned Tau not to repeat the mistake of his predecessor, Ebrahim Patel, who took 18 months to appoint a replacement for disgraced former chairperson
DA trade spokesperson Toby Chance said the party will ensure that only individuals of “impeccable integrity" and a proven track record are considered.
Chance also credited Pityana for starting the process of cleaning up the commission.
