SAPS hosting Interpol conference in CT under Cachalia’s leadership

CAPE TOWN - The South African Police Service (SAPS) is hosting the 27th International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) African regional conference in Cape Town on Wednesday under the leadership of Acting Minister of Police Firoz Cachalia.
Cachalia will be joined by deputy ministers, Polly Boshielo and Cassel Mathale, to host the conference at the Century City conference centre from Wednesday until Friday this week.
Interpol president Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi will be in attendance at the conference, along with SAPS National Commissioner Fannie Masemola and various Interpol police chiefs.
SAPS spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the gathering underscored South Africa’s commitment to combating transnational organised crime.
Mathe said the conference is expected to result in agreements on strengthening regional responses while serving as a platform for the exchange of best practices and law enforcement partnerships.
