JOHANNESBURG - Members of the media fraternity will be honouring the life of EWN's associate politics editor Tshidi Madia during a memorial service at her home in Germiston on Saturday.
The 42-year-old journalist died in a Johannesburg hospital earlier this week after a short illness.
Hundreds of tributes have been pouring in since the news of her passing including from President Cyril Ramaphosa, who described her as a remarkable citizen and thought leader.
Mourners will gather at Madia's home in remembrance of her amazing contribution to the media and journalism industry.
EWN's Editor-in-Chief Nisa Allie said "as journalists we work very long hours, we work late into the night, we're constantly on our phones and we're accustomed to a certain level of unpredictability in our lives every day and it's no surprise that we've find comfort within our peers because they understand more than anybody else what being a journalist means."
She added that Tshidi had formed many beautiful friendships through her career.
"Upon hearing of her passing, her industry colleagues wanted to find a way in which to honour her. We are grateful to the Madia family for allowing South Africa's journalism industry and media industry a space in which to celebrate Tshidi,"said Allie.
