JOHANNESBURG - A funeral will be held on Saturday for the e-hailing driver who died in a hail of bullets outside Maponya mall in Soweto, last month.

Mthokozisi Mvelase’s body was finally handed over to his family on Friday after weeks of waiting as his remains underwent DNA testing.

The 27-year-old was shot and killed outside the busy mall and his car was torched while three other people got caught in the crossfire.

The trio survived the attack.

While the community has blamed taxi operators in the area for the deadly attack taxi body Santaco has been assisting the family.

Spokesperson Rebecca Phala said "We will gather there amongst his family, friends and colleagues as well as colleagues in the greater transport space, we will be doing so to pay our last respect to him to offer our condolences to his family in this difficult time".
