JOHANNESBURG - The bail of a police officer accused of killing his girlfriend has been revoked after he was found to be intimidating witnesses.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) said Eldorado Park sergeant Mandla Buthelezi has been re-arrested for interfering with the case.
Buthelezi is accused of killing his girlfriend, Gauteng crime warden Chesnay Kepler, in December.
IPID spokesperson Lizzy Suping said Buthelezi allegedly violated his bail conditions and is now also being accused of intimidating witnesses in the murder case.
“He was arrested at the Johannesburg High Court today [Wednesday] during his appearance today and the case has been remanded to 11 October 2025 for pre-trail. He will be detained at the Morola police station until his next appearance.”
