Morero said that R800 million had been set aside to address infrastructure challenges that have led to widespread demonstrations.
He told the Westbury community on Thursday that 15 water tankers would be dispatched to the areas for residents to have access to water while a permanent solution is pending.
"There’s a lot of work that we must do in that seven days that post the seven days, there’s no interruptions because the commando system has been badly affected and badly damaged and needs to be refurbished."
One of the residents addressed the mayor in response.
"The R800 million is not good enough when it's only on paper and not in reality. So Johannesburg Mayor, with all the solutions you’ve presented, are you prepared to resign if you don’t meet your commitments?"
The mayor is now on his way to give feedback to the community members who are protesting in Westbury.
