JOHANNESBURG - Five suspects are expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing a charge of murder following a mob justice attack earlier last week.
The group was arrested in connection with the brutal killing of an unidentified man who was allegedly attacked by a crowd in Polokwane. Police said they acted on information from community members, which led to the suspects being arrested during an early morning operation on Thursday.
The five suspects, aged between 30 and 40, were apprehended at various locations across the city.
Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba said investigations into the incident are still ongoing. "The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the community for their role in providing valuable information that led to the arrests, pointing out that the breakthrough demonstrates the importance of strong partnerships between the police and communities.”
