Second accused in global child sexual exploitation network challenges bail denial

A woman accused of operating a global sexual exploitation network with her boyfriend is determined to be released on bail.

Megan Moodley is challenging the court’s decision to deny her bail application.

Moodley and her partner, Darren Wilken, were back in the Randburg Magistrates Court for the continuation of their case

The couple faces multiple charges, including the production and distribution of child sexual abuse material, money laundering, among others

Earlier this year, the Randburg Magistrates Court denied the bail application filed by both accused.

And during proceedings on Tuesday, it was revealed that the 2nd accused, Moodley, is challenging that decision.

Prosecutor Elize le Roux stated that with the investigation completed, some processes need to be put on hold until the bail issues are complete.

"It would be nonsensical for us to proceed to serve the accused (and transfer them prior to bail issues being dealt with. For that reason, your worship, I have arranged a date with the defence for the 22nd of October back to this court for purposes of finalisation of the bail-related issues. We are hoping that all of that will be resolved by the time we arrive back in this court," le Roux.

The matter has been postponed to the 22nd of October.
