Cachalia approves appointment of two senior officials to key positions within his office

In a move aimed at maintaining stability and operational continuity, Police Minister Firoz Cachalia has confirmed the secondment of two senior officials to key positions within his office.
These appointments come against the backdrop of the ongoing Madlanga Judicial Commission of Inquiry, which has identified the current chief of staff as a figure who may be called to testify before the commission.
The ministry said the secondments are intended to ensure smooth, uninterrupted operations in the minister's office during this period.

"Major General Pienaar is currently serving in the SAPS division, visible policing and operations and will take on the role of chief of staff. Whilst Ms Matlala, who's a senior manager market data analyst from the SIU, will join the minister's office as a personal assistant," said spokesperson for the Minister of Police, Kamogelo Mogotsi.
Mogotsi said Cachalia has noted the importance of maintaining continuity in the ministry's administration
"The minister remains committed to upholding the integrity of the office and reinforcing efforts to enhance the safety and security of all South Africans as enshrined in our constitution."
