MEC condemns 'barbaric' school burglaries in North West

The North West Education Department has raised concerns over a rising trend of school burglaries in the province.

This follows a series of break-ins reported in schools across the Ngaka Modiri Molema and Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati districts.
The North West Education Department said the recent break-ins occurred during the exam season.
Earlier this week (Wednesday), a security guard at one of the schools was held at gunpoint by two suspects and tied up with a rope inside the guard room.
The suspects then broke into the staff room, making off with three laptops and 28 tablets.
Earlier this month, Reveilo Secondary School was also targeted by criminals who stole 36 laptops, 32 chargers, a laptop stand, and two external hard drives.
Education MEC Viola Motsumi has condemned the attacks in the strongest terms, calling them barbaric and disruptive to learning.
Meanwhile, police have since recovered three laptops and 12 tablets
