The launch of Anthem comes at a crucial time, as South Africa grapples with energy security challenges and the urgent need to diversify away from coal.
Anthem is a South African Independent Power Producer (IPP) that develops, finances and operates large-scale renewable projects.
The company has positioned itself as a major force in the country’s transition to clean energy, bringing together a portfolio of large-scale wind, solar and battery storage projects.
Anthem supplies electricity to both the national grid and private companies.
Speaking to Stephen Grootes on The Money Show, James Cumming, CEO of Anthem says they will continue to supply both Eskom and the private sector with energy.
"We have a live project portfolio of about 2.7 gigawatts of projects. 1.1 gigawatts of those are already operational, a mix and wind and solar, mostly in the renewables program reap, selling to Eskom. But of late we've been developing projects and selling it to the private market."
