KZN DA forms alliance with Voice of Phoenix ahead of local govt elections

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal has signed an agreement with the civic organisation, Voice of Phoenix, ahead of next year’s local government polls.

Voice of Phoenix is known for tackling issues in the community located in the north of Durban. 

Party provincial leaders made the announcement in Phoenix on Tuesday afternoon.  

DA KZN chairperson Dean Macpherson said: "We think a united force for the DA is what the city needs so that we are able to rescue the city from the current decline that we see."

Macpherson said it is better to contest the upcoming polls as a united front.

"We also don’t think that it is helpful that we go into this election with a myriad of small parties and independent candidates that would just fracture the vote and work to support the ANC, so that is the important is the start of many more organisations that are in line to join the DA."
